Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about non-emergency medical transportation in Lodi, CA. Can not find your answer? Call us at (209) 243-6929 and we will be happy to help.
What is non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT)?
Non-emergency medical transportation, or NEMT, provides safe, reliable rides to and from medical appointments for patients who cannot drive themselves or use public transit. NEMT is not an ambulance service and is designed for patients who do not require emergency medical intervention during transport. Our services cover doctor visits, dialysis treatments, physical therapy sessions, hospital discharges, and other healthcare-related trips throughout Lodi and San Joaquin County.
Do you accept Medicare or Medi-Cal for transport?
Yes, we work with Medicare, Medi-Cal (California Medicaid), and many private insurance plans that include non-emergency medical transportation as a covered benefit. Eligibility depends on your specific plan and the medical necessity of the transport. We recommend contacting your insurance provider or calling us at (209) 243-6929 so we can help verify your coverage and handle the coordination on your behalf.
How far in advance should I schedule a ride?
We recommend scheduling your ride at least 48 hours in advance to guarantee availability, especially for recurring appointments like dialysis. However, we understand that medical needs can arise unexpectedly and we do our best to accommodate same-day and next-day ride requests when our schedule allows. For recurring appointments, we can set up a standing schedule so you never have to call each time.
Are your vehicles wheelchair accessible?
Yes, our entire fleet is ADA-compliant and equipped with wheelchair ramps, hydraulic lifts, and secure tie-down systems. Our drivers are specifically trained in safe wheelchair loading, securement, and patient transfer techniques. We accommodate standard wheelchairs, power chairs, scooters, walkers, and other mobility devices. If you have specific mobility needs, let us know when scheduling so we can assign the most appropriate vehicle.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Lodi and the greater San Joaquin County area, including Stockton, Galt, Elk Grove, Manteca, Tracy, and Sacramento. We regularly transport patients to medical facilities throughout the Central Valley and Sacramento metropolitan area. If you need a ride to a facility outside our standard service area, call us and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Do you provide recurring rides for dialysis patients?
Absolutely. We understand that dialysis patients need reliable transportation three or more times per week. We set up standing ride schedules that automatically dispatch a vehicle to your home before each treatment and return you home afterward. You do not need to call before every session. We also try to assign the same driver to recurring patients for consistency and comfort.
What should I bring on my medical transport ride?
We recommend bringing your photo ID, insurance card, any medications you may need during your appointment, medical documents or referral paperwork, and any mobility aids you use such as a cane, walker, or portable oxygen. Having your appointment details handy — the facility name, address, doctor name, and estimated appointment duration — helps our driver plan accordingly.
Do you offer hospital discharge transport?
Yes, we provide safe, comfortable rides home after hospital stays, surgeries, and outpatient procedures. We coordinate directly with hospital discharge planners and nursing staff to ensure a smooth transition. Our drivers are trained to assist patients who may be in post-surgical discomfort or have limited mobility. We serve all major hospitals in the region including Adventist Health Lodi Memorial, Dameron Hospital, and UC Davis Medical Center.
How much does medical transport cost?
Costs depend on your insurance coverage, the type of service needed, and the distance traveled. Many patients have their rides fully covered by Medi-Cal or Medicare Advantage plans at no out-of-pocket cost. For private pay patients, we offer competitive rates with transparent pricing and no hidden fees. Call us at (209) 243-6929 for a free quote tailored to your specific transportation needs.
Are your drivers trained and background-checked?
Yes, all of our drivers undergo thorough background checks, drug screening, and extensive training before they transport patients. Our drivers are CPR-certified and trained in patient assistance, wheelchair securement, and sensitivity when working with elderly, disabled, and medically fragile patients. We take patient safety seriously and hold our drivers to the highest standards of professionalism and care.
Can you transport patients with stretchers or gurneys?
Yes, we offer stretcher and gurney transport for patients who cannot sit upright during transit. This service is commonly used for hospital discharges, facility-to-facility transfers, and patients with conditions requiring a reclined or supine position. Stretcher transport requires advance scheduling so we can assign the appropriate vehicle and equipment. Call us to arrange this service.
What are your hours of operation?
We operate Monday through Sunday from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with 24/7 scheduling available by phone. We understand that medical needs do not always follow a 9-to-5 schedule, and we do our best to accommodate early morning, evening, and weekend appointments. For recurring rides like dialysis, we can schedule pickups at whatever time works best for your treatment schedule.
Do you provide door-to-door or curb-to-curb service?
We provide door-through-door service, which goes beyond basic curb-to-curb transport. Our drivers come to your front door, assist you to the vehicle, and then help you from the vehicle into the medical facility at your destination. On the return trip, the driver assists you from the facility back to the vehicle and then to your front door at home. This level of service is especially important for elderly patients and those with mobility challenges.
